Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) Scholarship Awards FOR NIGERIANS.

The Federal Ministry of Education is inviting interested and qualified Nigerians to participate in the 2014/2015 Nomination Interview for Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) Scholarship Awards for:
i) Undergraduate (UG) studies tenable in Cuba, Morocco, Russia, Algeria, Ukraine, Romania, Turkey, Egypt, Serbia, Macedonia, Japan.
ii) Postgraduate (PG) studies tenable in Russia, China, Japan, Turkey, Serbia, Mexico, e.t.c
All qualified candidates are advised to complete the application form online.
Ensure to print the completed Application form. Candidates must submit two copies at the venue of the Interview scheduled for 24th – 28th March 2014.
NB: Double entries are not allowed!
APPROVED FIELDS OF STUDY:
a. Undergraduate level – Medicine, Geology, Engineering, Agriculture, Sciences, Languages, Environmental Sciences, Mathematics, Sports, Law, Social Sciences, etc
b. Postgraduate level – (Masters Degree and Ph.D) in all fields.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
A. UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS: All undergraduate degree applicants must possess a minimum qualification of Five (5) Distinctions (As & Bs) in the Senior Secondary School Certificate, WAEC or NECO (May/June) only in the subjects relevant to their fields of study including English Language and
Mathematics.
NB: Certificates should not be more than Two (2) years old (2012 or 2013). Age limit is 22 years.
B. POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS: All applicants must hold a First Degree with at least 2nd Class Upper Division. Applicants who are previous recipients of Foreign Awards must have completed at least two (2) years post qualification or employment practice in Nigeria. A knowledge of Russian language is desired particularly for those applying for Russian Award. All applicants must have completed N.Y.S.C. Age limit is 35 years for Masters and 40 years for Ph.D.
NOTE (For all Applicants): Knowledge of the language of the country of choice is an added advantage.
INTERVIEW: All eligible applicants are expected to report for interview at the venues scheduled for their respective zones of origin.
NB: Two sets of completed application forms must be submitted at the various interview centres with the following enclosures:
i. Two authenticated photocopies of educational certificates and testimonial
ii. You MUST provide either WAEC or NECO ( May/June) only. No result combination is allowed!
iii. Statement of results must be confirmed by WAEC or NECO and forwarded to the Director/ Secretary, Federal Scholarship Board, Abuja.
iv. Two copies of Birth certificate.
v. State of origin certificate duly signed, stamped and dated.
vi. Eight (8) passport sized coloured photographs on white background
vii. Data page of current International Passport. and
viii. Academic transcripts and NYSC certificates will be required from applicants for postgraduate studies

NB: Nominated candidates who are finally selected by the awarding BEA countries will be required to submit to Federal Scholarship Board the following:
i) Authenticated copies of academic certificates
ii) Medical certificate of Fitness including HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Hepatitis B free certificates and chest x-ray from a Teaching Hospital, General Hospital or National Hospital, Abuja.
OR, any Hospital as designated by the awarding country.
iii) Police clearance certificate with finger prints ( on request).

TUITION-FREE UNIVERSITY FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS(ADMISSION PROCESS IS ON FOR  UNIVERSITY OF ICELAND)
The University of Iceland is a progressive educational and scientific institution, renowned in the global scientific community for its research. It is a state university, situated in the heart of Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland. Programme variety at the University of Iceland is constantly increasing. There are currently more than 150 undergraduate programmes and minors to choose from, and within them some 70 specialisations.


The deadline for international students (other than exchange students) to apply for undergraduate and graduate studies is 1st February 2014 (for the 2014-2015 academic year). Students from the Nordic countries are excepted and may apply for undergraduate studies until 5th June (with the exception of the Icelandic as a second languageprogramme, for which the deadline is 1st February). Admission requirements

Undergraduate Studies: Students who enroll at the University of Iceland shall have completed a matriculation examination or the equivalent.
Graduate Studies: Specific faculty rules apply regarding admission requirements for graduate studies at the master's and doctoral levels. These rules ara published in thecourse catalogue and on faculty websites.

Language

In general, teaching at the University of Iceland is in Icelandic. Several faculties offer some courses taught in English, see courses taught in English. Please note that proof of English proficiency requirements may apply to applicants whose native language is not English. English Proficiency Requirement for Admission

All international applicants, applying for programmes indicated in the above list and whose native language is not English, are required to provide results of the TOEFL or IELTS tests as evidence of English proficiency. Official scores from the tests must be submitted directly from TOEFL/ETS or IELTS.

Applications - Please note

  • Applicants are required to attach in pdf format their latest diploma/transcript, together with a copy of the front page of their passport. Some faculties also require certain other supporting documents, i.e. statement of purpose, CV and references.
  • Citizens of countries outside the EEA/EFTA (exempting the Faroe Islands and Greenland), applying for studies at the University of Iceland, are required to pay a fee* of€ 50 for the handling and processing of their applications. The fee is charged as part of the online application process and is payable by credit card only, VISA or Mastercard. The handling and processing fee is NOT refundable.

Registration fee

The annual registration fee for the University of Iceland is ISK 75,000. Spring semester registration fee for new students is ISK 54,375.

Exchange students

Please note: The application form for international students is not for those applying for an exchange programme. Applications for exchange programmes must be submitted prior to 1st March for non-EEA citizens and before 1st May for EEA citizens. The student is required to have completed at least 60 ECTS at their home institution, and there must be an active agreement of cooperation between the home institution and the University of Iceland. Students at the University of Iceland do not pay tuition fees, only an annual registration fee, ISK 75,000 as of the 2014-2015 academic year.
International applicants will receive an answer to their application either by e-mail or by ordinary mail. Those accepted into the University will be sent various practical information, including how to transfer the registration fee from their homeland. The fee needs to be paid by a specific due date, generally a month after reception of the acceptance letter. Registration for studies at the University of Iceland is confirmed upon payment of the registration fee. The registration fee is non-refundable.

Annual course registration

Annual course registration for the upcoming academic year (fall and spring semesters) takes place in March each year. All university students must register during the annual registration period, including graduate students.
The registration fee must be paid in connection with the annual registration. The fee can be paid via credit card online, or by requesting an electronic invoice charged to an online bank account. If the registration fee is not paid by the due date the student is considered to have abandoned studies.

Permission for reduction of annual registration fee

New students who enrol in the middle of the academic year (in January) are charged a reduced registration fee, ISK 54,375. Invalid or handicapped students are also charged a reduced fee, ISK 54,375.
If a university faculty permits a student to take leave from studies for one academic year, the student pays ISK 9,375. The same applies for students from other universities who are enrolled at the University of Iceland on the basis of a student-exchange agreement, unless stipulated otherwise in the respective agreement.

Bachelor in the International Environment and Development Studies programme:

Master:
